Prospective Parents

NEW STUDENT OPEN HOUSE

Held each year in February, this is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Withers, pick up registration materials, take a tour of the school, and talk with current families and staff. Please contact the front office for more information about this event 972-794-5000

With so many great schools in our neighborhood, it is an important decision where to send your children to elementary school. Withers Elementary believes that we have the excellent teachers, programs, community involvement, and resources to make our school competitive with the private institutions nearby.

Academically, our students are in the top 25% of all DISD schools in all categories. Additionally, Withers students have made tremendous strides in both minimum requirements, but also in “Commended Performance” for TAKS testing. We have been rated “Exemplary” two of the past three academic years. To see our DISD scorecard, click here.

Some of the many programs we offer include the two-way dual language program, YMCA after school program, orchestra, athletics, choir, Destination Imagination, cub scouts, girl scouts, student council, and countless others. We also have an amazing garden, where children learn though hands-on experience throughout the year. Our PTA, Dad’s Club and Latin Advisory Committee (LAC) are very active and put in countless hours to help the staff achieve great things with our children.

The “Zone” for Withers Elementary school is roughly: Forest Lane as the northern border, Midway as the eastern border, Marsh Lane as the western border and then Merrill Lane as the southern border. West of Lenel, the southern border is Davila Drive, and the western border extends about 1 block west of Marsh on the south side of Walnut Hill. Click here for a map of the Withers zone, and click here to look up your school by using your street address.

If you would like to tour the school, come in any time, or schedule an appointment with the main office at 972-794-5000.

For families interested in attending an informal gathering of current families and staff involved in the dual language program, Neighborhood Coffees are held a few times each year. These give prospective families a chance to learn about the program. Contact the office at 972-794-5000 to get more information about attending a neighborhood coffee.
