Karate (Chamberlain Studios)

Chess Club
WHEN: Wednesdays 3:30 - 4:30
WHO: 1st - 5th, only 3rd - 5th eligible for tournament team
COST: Free through DISD!
WHERE: Mr. Frias' Room
DETAILS: The tournament team is for students that know how to play chess. Tournaments are Saturdays from 8AM -5PM (DISD will announce the dates soon). If you are selected for the tournament your attendance is crucial for the team's eligibility to compete. Players in 1st -5th grade with little to no chess experience can also sign up, but will not be part of the tournament team.
Required spring tournament: May 10th (3rd - 5th) and May 17th (K-2nd)

Art Warriors (Studio Bella)

DETAILS: A new year brings a new round of Art Warriors in various mediums. Artists increase their artistic skills. Techniques, tricks, and conceptual art keep the gears turning, hands working and smiles smiling all semester long (each semester is unique). Who should sign up? Any child who loves to draw and paint their ideas wants to improve their art and takes pride in their work. Every week, we will have a new project, and every semester is unique. This semester, we will be adding tie dye to the calendar.

Digital Animation

DETAILS: Students will use the FlipaClip app to learn about the principles of animation, story boarding and character design. This class is limited to 12 students.

DETAILS: Students will learn to think fast, act sillier, and create scenes that'll tickle your funny bone. In improv, teamwork makes the dream work; students join fellow giggle-gurus who build each other up and collaborate to create wild stories on the spot. Improv is great for both fearless youngsters who can't help but take center stage and shy kiddos who want to grow their confidence.
